ARE ANTIVIRUS SAFE :
Now, today I'm gonna be talking about the best antivirus options for 2022. So, imagine if malware got into your PC and encrypted all your sensitive files. Oh yeah, that is nightmare fuel. So, let's avoid that and make sure you have the best antivirus for 2022. Bitdefender, Norton Antivirus, Total AV Antivirus, Avira Antivirus, and McAfee Total Protection. All these names might ring a bell for you unless you live in a cave. These really are the best antivirus software out there and each one is awesome in its own way. I've reviewed all of them so you could say, I understood the assignment.
Windows 10 and 11 :
Now, when judging the best antivirus for Windows 10 and for Windows 11, I really wanted to see how these providers stood up in their malware lab scores, the features that they offer, their efficiency to not soak up all my CPU and PC memory, their customer support, and of course the price. Okay, so let's go.
Bitdefender Antivirus :
Starting with Bitdefender Antivirus, widely considered to be one of the best and I gotta agree. Bitdefender for PC has loads of amazing features. I felt so secure with Bitdefender. Look, I had real-time protection, advanced threat defence, web attack prevention, anti-spam and anti-phishing filters. They also have a little feature called Safepay, which essentially makes sure your online payments are extra secure, which I happen to use a lot. What can I say, I'm a little materialistic. And you don't even have to worry about snooping on cyber criminals because Bitdefender Antivirus also has microphone and webcam protections. So, with all these features, I really felt like the viruses were never getting close. Bitdefender for PC is a fortress. So, if you have Windows 10 or 11, I'd say look no further. Even in my own personal malware testing, where I planted 10 malicious files onto my PC to see how well Bitdefender would detect and remove said files, well, after a scan, a total of 10 out of 10 files were resolved. Really good going. Now, the only drawback to all of these features is that it might slow down an older device, but the Bitdefender free package is awesome and the paid packages are a great value for the money. Overall, Bitdefender is a clear top pick for the best antivirus for 2022.
Norton 360 Deluxe :
Now moving on to Norton 360 Deluxe. I think Norton for PC is comprehensive when it comes to security against viruses. They have AI-powered protection to catch malware, spyware, viruses, and ransomware from devices. I really like Norton's Secure VPN feature which encrypted my traffic and it lets me keep my precious files and photos in the Norton PC file backup. I could see why Norton 360 is rated as one of the best antiviruses for Windows 10 and 11. It won't drag your PC speed down despite all its features, and I think everyone could easily navigate this software. It is so easy. While Norton 360's prices aren't super low, you do get an excellent antivirus for the pay. Malware tests show that Norton is only getting stronger over time. In my own malware testing, 10 out of 10 malicious files were detected, nine were resolved and one required particular attention. That said, Norton Antivirus is another great pick for 2022 and a really inclusive option for all types of users.
Total AV Antivirus :
Okay, now let's jump over to the Total AV antivirus review for 2022. Total AV has a free version with great antivirus coverage. The malware test scores for Total AV show low false positives and a 98.7% detection rate. In my own testing, they were able to detect and quarantine a total of 19 files, including the 10 I planted myself. And it has ransomware protection, safe browsing VPN, system optimization, and a password vault. So, say bye-bye to the annoying ransomware and phishing emails when you have Total AV constantly scanning for threats. The two small snags I found were that Total AV only covers six devices and the browser extension could be a little more user-friendly. And in terms of performance, while the quick and the full scans were fast, the CPU usage was on the higher side compared to the other providers I'm mentioning today. I even tested their customer support, and while they were really responsive, it's a contender for the best free antivirus for Windows 10 and 11 for sure. Look, 2020 and 2021 were full of surprises, but you don't need any more surprises or viruses for your PC for 2022. Overall, I really think Total AV for Windows is a sure bet.
Avira Antivirus :
But, what kind of antivirus review would this be if I didn't at least bring up Avira? If you're wanting great antivirus software and are looking for the best budget option, Avira for Windows has it. It has both free and paid services and its AV comparative malware test scores are very impressive. They score high for malware detection with a low number of false positives. I like those ratings. But in my own testing, it wasn't at the top of the scoreboard, detecting out of 10 malicious files, while taking around 30 minutes in the full scan. What I do appreciate about Avira on Windows is how intuitive the user interface is. There's nothing worse than antivirus software that acts more like a popup ad every time you're on your PC. Avira Antivirus was doing an amazing job at keeping my PC safe, and it was easy to use and it didn't make itself too known, you know what I mean?. Now, if you opt into Avira's more expensive plans, well then you're gonna get some VIP features, like an unlimited VPN, web protection, and premium mobile apps. I was able to use my single account to keep up with the multiple devices which was great because the last thing I need is more accounts and tabs and things to keep track of. The simplicity of Avira Antivirus was neat and I have no problem recommending this one for 2022.
McAfee Total Protection Antivirus :
Now, introducing the big dog antivirus, McAfee Antivirus Total Protection. I thought I knew what to expect with this one but McAfee did really impress me because most of you guys will remember McAfee's less-than-great reputation when it comes to certain partnerships. Now, those days are slowly and surely passing us by and they have worked really hard to improve things. Now, I consider it a totally reliable software, and definitely one of the best antivirus services for Windows PC. The malware test scores back up how strong McAfee's malware detection and speeds are. With my own malware testing, a total of 10 out of 10 malicious files I planted were detected, which I am super happy about. So, I tested the McAfee Windows version and I was happy that they offer protection from ransomware, crypto-jacking, and malware. Its real-time protection is always on, which gives me peace of mind as well. The firewall McAfee offers is rock solid and McAffee's plans are all supported by major platforms. They offer great features even on their most basic plans and their home network security feature connects your devices. So, it's a winner. Now, as well as testing, the best antivirus for 2022.
Outcome :
Okay, what's the takeaway here? Well, Bitdefender is one of the best antiviruses for Windows 10 or 11. Norton 360 is an all-arounder and really inclusive. Total AV is one of the most affordable options while packing in all the essentials. Avira is intuitive and affordable. And McAfee is a great multiple-device option. And that is a wrap on the best antivirus software picks for 2022.
